Local Government Information Technology South Australia (LGITSA) Annual Conference and Gala Awards 2026
LGITSA is pleased to present its most comprehensive conference program to date, bringing together Information Management and Information Technology professionals, GIS practitioners, council leaders and industry partners from across South Australia for two days of learning, collaboration, networking and celebration. Together, we will explore emerging trends, exchange ideas and experiences, showcase innovation across the sector, and equip councils to meet the challenges and opportunities of an increasingly digital future.
This year’s event will be held at the Amora Hotel Adelaide, South Australia with a program includes the following events -
LGITSA 2026 Conference - Thursday 5 and Friday 6 November 2026
This year's conference theme is: Keep, Change, Retire: Deciding What Local Government Runs On
Councils across Australia are making important decisions about which technologies, systems, processes and information practices should be retained, modernised or retired. Through keynote presentations, council case studies, industry discussions and government updates, the conference will explore how local government is responding to artificial intelligence, cyber security, digital transformation, information management and emerging technology trends.
Delegates will hear from keynote speakers Jeremy Aubert, Henry Olonga and Dr Amanda Rischbieth AM FAICD PhD, alongside a broad range of council practitioners, government agencies and industry experts. The conference also provides extensive opportunities to connect with peers from across South Australia through networking sessions, the industry exhibition, roundtable discussions and social events. The LGITSA Annual General Meeting will be conducted during the conference program.
LGITSA Awards Gala Dinner - Thursday 5 November 2026
The LGITSA Awards Gala Dinner recognises the innovation, leadership and achievements being delivered across local government. Technology projects, digital transformation initiatives, cyber security programs, information management improvements and service enhancements often take significant effort to deliver. The Gala Dinner provides an opportunity to acknowledge these achievements and celebrate the individuals and teams who make them possible. Whether attending as a nominee, finalist, supporter or delegate, the evening is an opportunity to bring your team together, reflect on the year and celebrate success alongside peers from across the sector.
Executive AI Insights Breakfast - Friday 6 November 2026
Designed specifically for Chief Executive Officers, Executives, Directors and senior leaders, the Executive AI Insights Breakfast will provide a strategic briefing on the emerging opportunities and challenges shaping local government. The session will focus on what is happening internationally, what is emerging across Australia, how artificial intelligence and digital technologies are changing organisations, and what councils should be doing now to prepare. Attendees will also hear how LGITSA intends to support councils through this period of significant technological change.
GIS in Local Government Day – Friday 6th November 2026
New for 2026, GIS in Local Government Day has been created to bring together GIS and geospatial professionals from across South Australia. As councils increasingly rely on spatial information to support planning, infrastructure, asset management, emergency management and data driven decision making, this dedicated event provides an opportunity to connect with peers, share experiences and strengthen collaboration across the geospatial community.
